The Chiefs in Assembly were very clear that their rejection wasn't all about the money - although solid funding certainly helps!

Each area of concern has a dedicated team that is focused on bringing together the best possible solutions for that issue to the negotiation table. They are hard at work researching, gathering input, and developing strategies to address the concerns raised by the Rights Holders and the Chiefs in Assembly. The "opening positions" below came from the resolutions approved by the Nations in Assembly last year, and what was sent to Canada in Feb 2025. These "opening positions" have been saved on this site for transparency reasons, but have since been refined. They are available if you click on the hearts below.
The CHRT has given until December 20th 2025 for a plan to end Canada's Discrimination in FNCFS to be submitted. The NCCC is now supporting the work of engaging with Leaders, Agencies, and Rights Holders. To have your say, please fill out the form through the link below.
